Skinner takes up duties in Brussels

Barbados has designated a new ambassador to Belgium.

Barbados TODAY has learnt of the elevation of former senior foreign service officer Joy-Ann Skinner, who officially assumed duties last Thursday as this country’s diplomatic representative in Brussels and Head of Mission to the European Union.

A graduate of the University of the West Indies with a BSc in Political Science and a post graduate diploma in International Relations, Skinner has served for nearly a decade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, including as head of the Hemispheric Relations Unit.

She arrived in Brussels on Monday, February 26 in preparation for official duty on Thursday, March 1.

“The Embassy of Barbados to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union avails itself of this oportunity to renew to the Heads of Mission of the CARIFORUM Group the assurances of its highest consideration,” the embassy said in a statement on February 27 announcing her arrival to the members of the regional diplomatic community.

Where is the Barbadian community in Brussels and how many? Head of Mission to the European Union with a British head of state, whom, by the way had just voted to break away from this parasitical cartel.
