St Michael School ready to repeat

Last year marked more than two decades since the boys of the St Michael School had tasted major success at the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championship (BSSAC).

Today at the school’s inter-house sports the young athletes showed they desired to savour the sweet success they enjoyed last year once more. There were a number of records broken and some highly promising performances delivered that augured well for the weeks ahead.

Junior victor ludorum Christopher Watson (left) won the 200m ahead of housemate and main rival Josiah Parris.
Junior victrix ludorum Gabriella Yearwood of Elizabeth House won the Under-15 Girls 400m comfortably.
Senior victor ludorum Seth Edwards of Anne House finishing second behind CARIFTA 400m qualifer Antoni Hoyte- Small of Elizabeth House in the 4x100m relay.
Senior victrix ludorum Chelsea Lawrence was third in the 400m.
Skye Spencer- Layne of Boadicea House won the Under-13 Girls 200m ahead of Samiya Dell of Elizabeth House and Jahzara Holford of Anne House.
Ashlee Lowe shared plenty blows in the senior girls 200m in which she set a new record of 24.28 seconds for Elizabeth House.
Victoria House took first and second in the 200m thanks to Asia Foster and Zaria Knight.
The teachers’ race drew much attention and created lots of excitement.
Nathan Fergusson of Victoria House landed at 6.44m to set a new record in the Under-20 Boys long jump.
