Alleged thief reduced to tears

A water sports operator, who robbed a woman of US$60 in cash, was granted $5,000 bail today with strict conditions.

Vernon Alwin Alleyne, of Roxy Avenue, Eagle Hall, St Michael, must report to the Black Rock Police Station every Wednesday by noon with valid identification.

Alleyne, who walked across the courtyard of the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court with tears streaming down his face as he prepared to enter the docks, must also stay away from Natalya Tull, the woman he allegedly stole the money from on January 26.

He was further ordered to avoid the Hastings area until the matter is adjudicated.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant imposed the conditions on Alleyne after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The accused man returns to court on May 29.
