Homeless man sent up to Dodds

A 55-year-old man, accused of several criminal offences, has been remanded to HMP Dodds until February 22.

Peter Lee Maughn, of no fixed place of abode, pleaded guilty to entering the Copacabana Beach Club on January 25 after having been forbidden to do so. He also admitted to having a cutlass on Bay Street without lawful authority, as well as an apparatus for the misuse of cocaine.

However, appearing before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today, he denied loitering at the same beach club on the aforementioned day with intent to
commit theft, damaging a window and unlawfully assaulting Shurland Cumberbatch.

The prosecutor objected to bail for the accused on the grounds that he had no place to live. He was therefore remanded to the St Philip penal institution for 28 days.
