Alleged cell phone thief remanded

The long arm of the law did not bypass Kevin Ryan Cornibert , who had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The 39-year-old Cornibert of Fairfield Cross Road, Tudor Bridge, St Michael was remanded to Dodds prison for the next 28-days when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today, accused of stealing a mobile phone worth $1,800 and a purse worth $30 belonging to Kathryn Wilkins on September 23 last year.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Theodore McClean, argued that based on the strength of the evidence and the fact that Cornibert was already on bail for a different matter, as well as for the protection of society, the accused should not be granted bail.

Cornibert will make his next appearance before the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
