May be he was depress, it’s not easy for elderly to watch as their friends move on, and their are still around. Loneliness sets up especially if they are illnesses that limit their mobility and access to others in their age group that are still around

Are the spate of suicides across the country a sign of the hopelessness & helplessness that has enveloped the country? Just asking.

Pensions can really sustain some elderly folks…not having assistance is difficult…not able to afford basic necessities…

As someone that grew up around him after he loss his wife and he had problems with his legs this was depression and it was not his first time he try to take his life. What I would add is that PEOPLE take on these people and they miss the signs I feel sorry for the caretaker when he sent her to buy a book and told her when she bring back the book and he dead 5o give it to his family that was a red flag woman. Ramsay bye.

Yes… that IS the Vere Ramsay… an excellent carpenter indeed whose once ceiled my parents home in less than a day all by himself.
Love table tennis and used to go by the nick name ” rubber legs ” during his playing days at Youth Town and the YMCA.
During his latter years after his wife died ,he developed foot problems and would always talk and praise what a good wife she was at the nearby Clinic he had to attend every two days for dressing changes.
Don’t know if he received bad news about his condition but one day at the Clinic I overheard him saying to others talking about someone they knew that had died…” I would like to go now ” and that was about two years ago
Rest in peace rubber legs,no more getting up every two days, calling a taxi to and from the Clinic.

I GOT A PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE COMING TO COLLECT THE BODY DRESSED CASUALLY. THERE IS NO BARRIER BETWEEN THEM AND THE REMAINS. BY NOW I SHOULD THINK THAT THESE PERSONS SHOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATELY DRESSED AND NOT LOOK AS IF IT IS A SIDE JOB.

This has nothing to do with pension. It is loneliness, the loss of his dear wife and probably the loss of his independence and having to rely on a caregiver no matter how excellent and kind they may be. When a person loses so much of them self they often become depressed. As young people we take so much for granted but the elderly lose so much of their identity every day. In addition if they have no close friends and family the situation is magnified and intolerable. I feel so sorry for this old man for her felt so sad and alone and missed his wife very much. . So much that he wanted to die and be with her.

Before one can label an unnatural death a suicide thorough investigations especially in a circumstance like this must be done, i find it strange that a man of this age would resort to suicide. However i will await the findings.
