CARICOM condemns Trump’s reported statements on Haiti

The 15-nation Caribbean Community (CARICOM) says it is deeply disturbed by reports about the use of “derogatory and repulsive language” by the president of the United States with respect to its member state, Haiti, and other developing countries.

On Thursday, Trump reportedly balked at an immigration deal that would include protections for people from Haiti and some nations in Africa, demanding to know at a White House meeting why he should accept immigrants from “shithole countries” rather than from places like Norway.

Despite a subsequent denial issued by the US president, CARICOM issued a statement on the matter today in which it said it “condemns in the strongest terms, the unenlightened views reportedly expressed.

“Of additional concern, is this pattern of denigrating Haiti and its citizens in what seems to be a concerted attempt to perpetuate a negative narrative of the country.

“We are especially saddened that such narrative emerged around the time of the anniversary of the devastating 2010 earthquake which took so many lives of citizens in that country,” it said.

“The Caribbean Community expresses its full support for the dignified statement of the Government of the Republic of Haiti in reaction to this highly offensive reference. It should be recalled that Haiti is the second democracy in the Western Hemisphere after the United States and that Haitians continue to contribute significantly in many spheres to the global community and particularly to the United States of America.

“CARICOM therefore views this insult to the character of the countries named and their citizens as totally unacceptable,” the statement issued by the Georgetown based regional secretariat added.

When people are insulted their first reaction is to lash out
What they should do first is to carefully examine the insult, and determine if it is baseless or not
If it is with base, they should work hard at correcting the truth and go forward positively
If it is baseless, then they lash out powerfully and strongly condemn the insulter

You are quite right there is a lot more to this story that these here in this forum would never be privy to especially since they drink the cool aid of the MSM namely CNN who has a sordid agenda against president Trump, they will never let the uninformed masses know anything about the massive gains of the USA economy in such a short space of time with Trump being at the helm, and furthermore they are now reports surfacing that the democratic senator who allege that these words were spoken is a known liar and a fabricator others present said the words were never spoken, people like to jump on band wagons for their own agendas. How else can Hati actually be described after it was raped by the Clintons and their cronies who used the major earth quake there to enrich themselves grossly, for those who might want to learn a thing or two see the documentary on the clinton’s cash.I will wait for the real facts concerning this episode come to the fore before i seek to judge as i am aware that within recent CNN in their zeal to destroy the president had to apologise and make several retraction all on account of misinformed leaks.

  5. Othneal January 14, 2018 at 7:46 am

@Committed Bajan. And what is your conclusion regarding President Donald Trump? Are his remarks baseless or not. I am simply striving to see your point. I can think of no circumstances where this man’s comments could be justified. Perhaps you can. Is that your point?

One of the BIGGEST MISTAKES that black people make is to believe that the mentalities of those other nations aka Chinese, Japanese, Indian, White etc can change their racist opinion of you. This AGENT ORANGE man is a harbinger for more things to come. We are in the information age. WTFU. U R at the BOTTOM WORLDWIDE for a reason.

    • Belfast January 14, 2018 at 2:28 pm

That’s not a fair comment Ms J, Except for the Grenada fiasco when we were used, Caricom countries have never sent troops to support the United States in any of its conflicts. Yes, many Caricom and Caribbean nationals found themselves on battlefields stretching from Korea to Afghanistan, but this is because they were working their way towards the coveted US Green Card and/ or US Citizenship.

Donald Trump isn’t the bajan black people problem , our problem is our out of order politicians, the people who is not cleaver enough to run our country , look how they treat our people …..
Why do we want to get into a war of words with the American president …. Nobody listens to black people especially in our region no clout………………

    • Belfast January 14, 2018 at 2:17 pm

Bajans are a funny lot, many of us have embraced the church from Salt Lake City, so much so that they have built some 3 or 4 churches on the island. This is the same lot whose bible, in the Book of Nephi, calls us a cursed race, and cursed shall be the seed of him who mixeth with our seed, the ones who God caused a skin of blackness to come upon.
Words that could have been written by Adolph Hitler, Donald Trump or Benjamin Netanhayu.

      • Jennifer January 14, 2018 at 2:50 pm

Nephi???? Which bible is that please. And which chapter is this verse in??? – “God caused a skin of blackness to come upon”. Or is it the book of MORMON??

        • Jennifer January 14, 2018 at 3:01 pm

Brain washing is GREAT upon this people. Who has the highest rate of skin cancers worldwide??? Please read Daniel 7:9 and Rev 1:14-15 – KJV. All of that sort of brain washing and lies should be finished for this people by now. Don’t you think.

        • Belfast January 14, 2018 at 9:40 pm

From the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The bible which the Mormons has left in many a Bajan home.
          2 NEPHI Chapter 5 Verses 21-24
          21. And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity.
For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they become like flint; wherefore as they were white and exceedingly delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
22.And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.
          23. And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it and it was done.
          24. And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people full of mischief and subtlety and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey.

          1 Nephi Chapter 12 Verse 23
And it came to pass that I beheld after they had dwindled in the unbelief they became dark and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations,

          • Jennifer January 14, 2018 at 10:18 pm

Have you ever thought on the fact this book may have been tampered with aka twisted??? Do you know in the lost books of Eden the sun and moon are called the two NEGROS. Look up the fact that the sun and moon are black. EVERYTHING MUST sync with the almighty. ALL NATIONS except Caucasians were black. Adam was made from the dust of the ground. What color did Miriam turn for speaking against Moses??? What color did Moses hand turn After it came out of his bosom the first time???. King Solomon; “my skin is black upon and comely. Daniel 7:9 – And I saw the ANCIENT OF DAYS sitting on a throne with his HAIR like the pure Wool – what nation/race has woolly hair?? Why would a god cause someone to have to put on a chemical to go into the sun.
I can prove to you the KJV bible was written by the Israelite patriarchs for israelites only. Who people were subjected to the CURSES of DEUTERONOMY 28 till this very day???

    • Jennifer January 14, 2018 at 3:54 pm

oh yes. They know race war and a purge coming.

      • Jennifer January 14, 2018 at 4:02 pm

600 plus groups arming. A HUMAN bombogenesis.

  23. Othneal January 14, 2018 at 6:27 pm

@Jennifer. You are correct. The other nations of the World take their lead from Western Europeans, almost without exception. Their orthodoxy is that Black peoples are the least among mankind against all evidence to the contrary. I blame Charles Darwen and a general lack of intellectual curiosity. After all, if they are not at the bottom of the pile themselves, why challenge the perceived status quo.
For those who feel threatened by the large number of paramilitary groups in USA ostensibly preparing for a race war, they can relax. All attempts to provoke such an event by their members have failed to do so. If institutional racism and almost daily arbitrary killing of Black people haven’t provoked a race war, what will? Nothing! We would rather kill our own. It is just a matter of time before the Federal Government perceive those groups as a threat and all hades will break out.
@Sherlock Holmes (a white Anglophile?) There is a psychological condition common among your type. It is called moral bankruptcy, in your case it is accompanied by a chronic case of deceptiveness.
Let me help you out. Check out the documentary ” Donald Trump, His route to the Presidency”. He and his father were prosecuted by the Federal Government for racial discrimination. He is quoted stating that he doesn’t want black people counting his money. He has form, lots of form!

    • Sherlock Holmes. January 14, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Let me make something pellucidly clear to you@ Othneal you do not know me but because i outlined my take of the situation as above you believe that i am white, well i am a negro and one that is awake i do not give much credence to you race baiters who with your myopic views sees everything from the point of view of being racist. I remember quite clearly when Donald Trump was adored by the black rappers and many other blacks in the USA society who felt he was next best thing to slice bread, there are a myriad of rap songs with the artist making quotes about him and wanting to be like him, but from the time he became president which by all accounts should not have happened he is now the biggest racist there has ever been. You cannot tell me nothing about Donald Trump i have done my research i remember when he assisted people like the Reverend Jesse Jackson and the black community you can look this up on line also, Jackson spoke so highly of him then you would not believe that today he calls him a racist. Race baiting is a tool employed by the Democrats and the MSM to keep blacks just where they want them, mentally on the democratic plantation, but as of recent many blacks have awoken and have seen the the true agenda of the democrats you may want to view kevin’s corner on youtube done by a black man just like you Othneal. Finally whilst there you can also research the story concerning the special needs black woman who was homeless and snuck into one of the Trump hotels way before he was a candidate and see how that episode turned out after the racist man as you called him was called to the scene. When you are at the tip of the spear you have no fear exposing the truth.

  24. Othneal January 14, 2018 at 9:07 pm

@ Sherlock Holmes. I am glad to have been of service. You made a number of points for which I am grateful. I now known much about your personality, allowing me to put your comments into context.
First, It is not what a man does, but his motive for doing what he does.
Second. I am not surprised that shallow Black people are impressed by their oppressor. That is the almost inevitable consequence of four hundred years of conditioning. Institutional behavior modification. You know, the conditioning that impels a dog to adore his master, even when abused. Unfortunately, that is the mentality of a large number of black people. A perpetual state of Stockholm Syndrome.
Third. As regards your reference to ” rappers”, I’m afraid I do not considered popular artists as a source of intellectual enlightenment, so you have lost me there.
Four.”Race baiter” . A curious term. What exactly does this term mean? If it means ‘obsessed with race’ , then I have to agree that you are correct in my case. I try not to be. But obsessions are notoriously difficult to shake off. I have concluded that a contributory factor is the fact that I am reminded every day, that I am a Black man. Incidentally the word “negro” simply means black.
If by race baiter you mean race hater, then you’ve got me wrong. Racism is irrational and makes a fool of “wise man”. I live my life in a state of controlled rage. Not for myself, but every time I have to deal with other peoples’ stupidity, I am reminded that the world I live in today is the same world that abused and dehumanised my ancestors in ways that are documented in my genes and would do so again if circumstances permitted. Nothing has changed.
Now, you know where I am coming from.

  26. Sherlock Holmes. January 15, 2018 at 2:43 am

A race baiter is anyone who uses the race card for their advantage and in most cases to incite others to act according to their intentioned plan.

  27. Tee White January 15, 2018 at 7:14 am

@sherlock Holmes the concept of ‘race card’ is basically a racist concept. It has been developed and is used as a way of deflecting criticism of existing racism. There are many such concepts that the white supremacists put into wide circulation to keep people’s minds in chains. As Bob Marley sang, we need to free ourselves from mental slavery.

    • Sherlock Holmes. January 15, 2018 at 8:58 pm
