Duo pleads guilty to theft

Two 50-year-old St Michael men have been remanded to Dodds prison after pleading guilty to theft.

Patrick Charles Cox, of Canewood Road, Jackson, and Wayne Anderson Highland, of Jackson Tenantry Road, are jointly charged of burglarizing the Tiki Bar on December 21 and stealing two bottles of Vodka worth $225.86, three bottles of rum worth $132.30, seven packs of cigarettes worth $59.50, a box of juice worth $3.60, four pounds of sweet peppers worth $30 and a pound of cucumbers worth $3.

The two partners in crime were caught red handed after the manager of the business picked up some suspicious activity on his CCTV cameras and alerted police.

Ironically, the two accused are employees of the firm that looks after the Tiki Bar’s security. Cox is the assistant manager and Highland is a security guard.

Cox has another matter pending in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, while Highland has over a dozen convictions, including for burglary.

The duo was represented by attorney Romain Marshall.

They are due to re-appear before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on January 19.
