‘Good Samaritan’ gets a break

A good deed performed seven years ago worked to the benefit of a 44-year-old man today when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on a drug charge.

Alvin Ricardo Babb, of 1st Avenue, Weekes Land, Goodland, St Michael, pleaded guilty to having cannabis in his possession while on Brownes Beach on December 21.

However, today the prosecutor said he was surprised that Babb had found himself in this type of situation as he had performed a heroic act when he had rushed to the assistance of the victims in the Campus Trendz fire back in 2010.

It was then that the magistrate informed Babb he had intended to give him 80 hours of community service, but reconsidered after being told about his selfless act.

Babb, who had earlier apologized to the court for his actions and reported that his ailing mother was totally dependent on him, was therefore reprimanded and discharged.

Well said. Forget the inherited xmas bs. All of the laws in this place was designed years ago to lock down and lock up black people. And none of these so called leaders we keep voting for would have the courage to revamp any of them laws.
