Worthing Post Office closed until further notice

The Postmaster General has advised the public that the Worthing Post Office has been closed with immediate effect until further notice due to an ongoing environmental problem.

However,  the delivery of mail will not be disrupted. Customers are advised that they can conduct business at any of the other 17 post offices across the island.

From Thursday, December 14, customers wishing to collect registered mail or parcels are asked to go to the Brittons Hill Post Office. ( BPS)

Massy closing too?it’s a shame…what has been allowed to happen..a whole year going on 2…the $7 million they spent on the 50th anniversary celebrations could have been spent on this serious , serious problem…i dont think anyone would have been worse off if the money had been re-directed to fix the problem

The 7 million spent on the celebrations was to make the government look good and still the celebrations failed. All the money they wasted could have clean up this problem long ago.

Who is ?? Isnt that cover under one of those ministries dealing wid drainage?? What cause the sewage problem??

    • hcalndre December 12, 2017 at 5:52 am

@Deborah Clarke; I have to agree with you, this government is not responsible for anything, not even the taxes that they keep burdening the people with. Are you taking the responsibility? this sewage problem that they want to play down should be enough to vote every one of DEM out of office. Where are the 3 swimmers, I really meant the 3 clowns. Froon would say that Barbados is not alone, other countries have it too.

    • O. Walrond December 12, 2017 at 5:10 pm

But the government is in charge of the affairs of the country, including the disposal of sewage. Governments don’t cause these problems, but they are supposed to prevent them by monitoring and planning ahead. They call it vision.

That because less and less ppl send physical mail now or buy stamps etc etc ,times has change …everybody now turning to emailing ,it’s more faster n less Hussle ..so post offices can’t make money

the places are closing not because they want to, or because they are old, but because their employees and their trade are compromised by the continued failure to stymie the flow of sewage into the streets between Hastings, Worthing and Lower Rendezvous.

I walked by there just over a week ago & the smell was nauseating. Was forced to hold a tissue over my nose.

    • hcalndre December 12, 2017 at 12:28 pm

I drove in that area 2 years ago and that horrible scent made me asked a friend how can an area that have restaurants and visitors be in that condition, where are the politicians that have the responsibilities, do they passed along that stretch?

I wonder what the two men that was swimming in the sewage and telling everyone that all is well, is saying now

  24. Jeanne Hauck December 11, 2017 at 10:27 pm

The sewage was a problem last year on the 50th anniversary!!!
One year later and it’s STILL a problem, but please make sure you name a Street after Rihanna! Priorities!

  25. John Walmark December 12, 2017 at 8:07 am

Make the BWA and local politicians set up shop in the post office location…. maybe then you will see some action on the sewage in the street.

  26. Miss P. December 12, 2017 at 12:12 pm

We come to Barbados for vacation every year, this will be the last visit until the sewage problems on the south coast are fixed. I’m sure many others feel the same way. This is a very sad situation.

  27. Ossie Moore December 13, 2017 at 4:15 pm

I am so very glad that the the beloved Mr Cave is not in these times with the postal service; the sewer problem would have had him like a firestick and more than that he would have had some discriptive adjectives along with it. Anyway I will still like to say ; MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SWEETER SMELLING NEW YEAR!!

Packaging business, mail order, Surface mail these are the areas which need to be broadened. Local expidited mail from the South coast to the northern parishes can be an area of operation that can be looked at
