Maynard admits to having ‘a little weed’

A Christ Church man, in his early 30s, has owned up to three drug offences five years after he was charged.

Ryan Anthony Maynard, of 166A, Regency Park, pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of $110 worth of cannabis.

The illegal substance, which included seeds, was found in a pair of his pants in his bedroom, when police executed a search warrant at his residence on December 8, 2012.

“Yeah that is my pants. That is my smoking weed. [It] is a little weed I had ‘cause I went partying last night,” Maynard said back then.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant imposed a $1,000 fine on him for the trafficking charge and reprimanded and discharged Maynard on the other two offences.

The money must be paid on or before February 2 if he wants to avoid spending six months at HMP Dodds.
