Man accused of stealing $100 in cash from senior citizen

A 34-year-old man, with a long criminal history, has been remanded to HMP Dodds for the next 28 days.

Peter Anthony Barnes, of no fixed place of abode, is alleged to have stolen $100 in cash from Rudolph Alleyne, a senior citizen, on November 25.

Although Barnes denied the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today, the prosecutor objected to his bail based on the fact that he has 22 previous convictions, 15 of which were for theft.

Sergeant Cameron Gibbons also revealed that the Barnes was already on bail for a pending matter, which is also before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

He was therefore remanded until
December 29.
