Abduction case

One woman accused of kidnapping another

A 29-year-old woman, who allegedly kidnapped another, was released on $10, 000 bail after appearing in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today.

Erica Sabrina Chandler, of No. 10B, Millennium Heights, St Thomas, is charged with unlawfully removing Simone Kirton from Welches, St Thomas without her consent on November 21.

She was not required to plead to the indictable charge, as well as that of assaulting Kirton on the same day, with intent to rob her.

There were no objections to her bail. However, the prosecutor, Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, made a successful application for Chandler to report to the District ‘A’ Police Station every Tuesday and Thursday before noon with valid identification.

She was also warned to stay away from her alleged victim until the matter was fully adjudicated.

Chandler is due to appear in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court on December 8 on the kidnapping charge before reappearing before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in District ‘A’ on March 20 on the assault charge.
