Mottley probe on

Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite will be presented with a letter tomorrow, calling for an investigation into the requirements necessary to practise law in Barbados.

General Secretary of the ruling Democratic Labour Party George Pilgrim told a press conference at the party’s George Street headquarters this afternoon that after some delay, the letter was finally ready for delivery to the Attorney General, calling on him to clear the air on the requirements.

Pilgrim recalled that the decision to write to Brathwaite was taken at the ruling party’s general conference last month at which a resolution was adopted questioning the qualifications of Opposition Leader Mia Mottley to practise law here.

The DLP is running scared of Miss. Mottley, what they`re are doing is opening a can of worms, most of the attorneys in Barbados are dishonest and this would qualify then for jail if they were in N. America. Miss. Mottley don`t need a law degree to be PM. not even the Supreme Court in the USA a law degree is needed. Mia have to know who is straight and who is crooked in the DLP take them to court on behalf of the people.

They should investigate who bought votes in the last election. Or who left their wife and children to live in a house in Gall Hill St. John with the Woman police and then promoted her to Sergeant. Who does drive the little green Yaris every night to the same woman house that they made a Judge.
Whether she is lawyer or not does not qualify her to be our next PM as nd that she will be. There is a Judge who has the same qualifications and no one questions him and he is the one we should be absolutely sure is qualified. Let those losers continue to catch at straw and take our country further down the gutter. No one cares about no law degree Freundel got one and is the worst thing you could ever want for a Man or human beign.

Ever professional in Barbados must be qualified and registered annually.
All she has to do is produce his Degree/Degrees from the London School of Economics that’s all. Only then will this issue be put to rest.
It was Mia who – in June 2015- questioned the qualifications of Dr. Denis Lowe.
    This should be interesting.
Imagine someone could be practicing law in Barbados for years, and we did not know it was bogus.

Also asked him to probe the cost over runs at the Thompson monument and the housing scandals at the NHC.

Can any do the math and see what a person would have to earn to have that wealth in such a short time? The AG says he is going after people that owns homes and driving expensive vehicles whom he think obtain them through illegal means, having a job don`t make a person exempt from being investigated, hope he is not selective in his endeavor.

Barbados have some Trumps there too, Trump questioned Pres. Obama`s birth certificate, but even if the court asks Miss. Mottley to produce her proof of her law degree, she should not, knowing some time ago, two politicians refused to appear in court on an issue Mia brought because they are above the law and the PM told the court that Comissiong don’t have the right to challenge him in court.

I publicly support the efforts of the relevant authorities to investigate Mottley’s legal qualifications – which ought to have been in line with relevant provisions of the local Legal Profession Act.

Mottley was clearly given a legal exemption from the requirements.

Why and under what circumstances though was Mottley instructed by a High Court Judge to be admitted to practice law in this country.

Henry Forde – in his public comments on the issue a few years back – failed to address such fundamental concerns.

He failed miserably to tell whether she did poorly in her law studies.

I have said repeatedly that all Ms. Mottley has to do is present the necessary qualification and this matter would go away. But if she does not have the qualification then I have a few questions. 1. If Ms. Mottley had found out that Mr. Lowe did not have his qualification what would she have done? 2. Would she not have made it a political issue? 3. If she does not have the requisite qualification has she not broken the law? 3. Is she not now a member of our esteem Parliament – house of legislators – law makers? 4. How do you make laws and break them at the same time? 5. Is Ms. Mottley not considered a successful lawyer having earned well from a law practice? 6. Without the requisite qualification would it not make her practice a criminal offence? 7. How do the laws of the land and the rules and regulations of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission deal with a matter of this sort? 8. What jurisprudence do we have from other jurisdictions in dealing with this matter? 9. If this matter is not fairly and fully dealt with or we not sending the wrong impression that there is about two Barbados’ and that white colour is ok? 10. What message are we sending to the international community like the IMF, rating agencies, Transparency International and the rest? There are certainly more questions than answers and I hope we, the electorate can get some answers soon.
