Christ Church man confesses to stealing cassavas

A 37-year-old Christ Church man has been slapped with a $1000 fine for stealing 80 pounds of cassava.
Roland Romel Layne, of #2 Edey Village, appeared before Magistrate Elwood Watts in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today charged with the crop theft as well as two counts of assault.
He pleaded guilty to the theft charges and was ordered to pay the money by November 28 if he wants to avoid a six-month jail term.
However, Layne pleaded not guilty to the assault charges and was granted bail in the sum of $1,500, with one surety. He was instructed to reappear in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court on November 16.
As part of his bail conditions, Layne must report to the Oistins Police station twice a week.

No wonder he supports the Barbados Labour Party. The DLP got legislation comining to more severely deal with his teefing behind.MR. AGRICULTURE was a fierce critic of the present DLP administration. He will be missed from polluting the airways with his diatribe. Security could not shoot very well. The punishment is to small.
