Man accused of assaulting Wickham

A 55-year-old man, who told a Bridgetown magistrate he had no one to post bail on his behalf, has been remanded to prison for the next 28 days.

Winston McDonald Lewis of Sookram’s Apartments, Suttle Street, St Michael is accused of inflicting serious bodily harm on John Wickham, on September 20, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him.

Lewis was not required to plead to the indictable offence.

However,  the prosecutor, Sergeant Martin Rock, objected to bail based on Lewis’ antecedents, the nature and seriousness of the offence, as well as for the protection of society.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick therefore remanded the accused man to Dodds until October 25.

What is going on?,this man is also a well known character in the city of Bridgetown,he is a very out spoken individual, but he has never been a threat to society,I would like to know what would provoke him to do such a thing, stealing bullets doesn’t endanger the rest of the population, but this man’s assault does, when will the double standards end?,poor people have no rights!

He is not really a trouble maker. I know him for years. He makes a lot of sport and a bit loud. Something went wrong. I hope he was not provoked. He is a psychiatric out person. OK guy though. Who should be jailed out…Believe it or not!
