A while back, one night around 7.30 pm. on an unlit section of the street near Sheraton an old man maybe 90 years old, wearing a black whole suit, got off the bus and immediately cross the road, to attend to the adjacent church. Almost invisible in his dark suit, I saw him at the very last moment and applied my brakes sharply. He was about 18 inches from the front of my halted vehicle. With some measure of braking noise, the old man did not even look my way which led me to believe that he had a problem hearing.
Two things I question, (a) why so many people who walk the roads at nights continue to wear dark clothing, and (b) why did the Church, and this applies to many others, not have a team of worshipers with the responsibility of assisting the elderly members to cross the street, whether it’s day or night.
