Handyman jailed for cocaine and ganja possession

A 65-year-old handyman who previously pleaded guilty to six drug related offences was today sentenced to 18 months behind bars.

Desmond Tyrone Branker of School Lane, Hall Road, St Michael has been on remand since October 31 last year, on charges of possession of three counts of cannabis, one count of possession of cocaine, one count of possession with intent to traffic cannabis and two counts possession of apparatus for the misuse of cocaine.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant handed him a nine-month prison sentence for the possession of cocaine charge, and a further nine months to run consecutively on the trafficking of cannabis charge. Time spent on remand will be taken into account.

Branker was reprimanded and discharged on the other offences.

However, his legal troubles do not end here as he is also facing the indictable charges of possession of a firearm and possession of 72 rounds of ammunition.

These two cases continue in the No.2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on October 4.

that is the Big problem here in Barbados, I know when high court judge (Eliot Belgrave )now retiring governer General ,sent a friend of mine to prison for 5yrs, if mr Belgrave had had any proper training in the area of drug-related matters, he would have realized that the individual whose life & reputation he destroyed, while showing the began public how much power he has needed psychological assistance for the cocaine addiction he had although the individual had counceller Zenda phillips & superendant of the then weslyan holyness churches Carlisle Williams to speak on his behalp Eliot Belgrave with his white wig & red & black robe made this atetement in his high court( you think you smart i am going to send a signal to the sociaty & with that he hit the round wooden obgect in front of him a saidwith the voice of a man in athority 5 years in prison we dont need to send people on cocain to prison you send them to a drug rehab center, like Verdon where they can get Professional help, & get to know people who are assigned to monerter them & do follow up programs( people like Elliot Belgrave who is very close to the prime minister )have a certain slave mentallity ,they look up to white people,& feel that they are the athority when holding positions that are held by whites ,I could imagine how elliot Belgrave felt sitting as the reppresentative of the Queen @ Goverment house, boy he had it bade, representing de Massa & England, he was no longer black ,he became a white man immediately. ( but no matter was the position he rose to, he still got to dead like all a we,.!
