Medicine for Lunat, Maths for Hunte

They both got Grade Ones across the board in their Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), but scholarship winners Afeefah Lunat of Harrison College and John Hunte of Queen’s College are going in different directions.

Apart from the mandatory Communications Studies and Caribbean Studies, which most of students this year described as challenging, Lunat obtained top grades in Pure Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry.

She is seeking to enter the medical profession, but has not yet decided where she will pursue her studies.

Meanwhile, Hunte will be taking a different path in his future academic pursuits, given his chosen subjects.

While he concentrated on Environmental Science, Computer Science and Pure Mathematics, it is the latter subject that will form the basis of his studies at the tertiary level.

He will be going to the University of Waterloo in Canada to study actuarial science.
