Storm watch: Update 2 a.m. bulletin Tropical Storm Harvey

Heavy rains, gusty winds, and thunderstorm activity are being reported across Barbados as Tropical Storm Harvey affects the island.

In its 2 a.m. bulletin, the Barbados Meteorological Services said the centre of system was located at 13.0 degrees north, 58.1 degrees west or 95 miles east of Barbados.

The system is moving westward at 17 miles per hour and on that track, the center is expected to pass near or over Barbados at approximately 8 a.m. on Friday morning.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 miles per hour with higher gusts.

The island will continue to experience pockets of moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds during the early part of today.

The Met Office said some rainfall stations have already reported accumulations between one to inches. It noted that another two to three inches of rainfall was possible.

Residents are advised to remain alert and stay indoors.

The next bulletin will be issued at 5 a.m.
