Broken friendship

Man jailed over Fallout with Friend which Breached bond

Trevor Antonio Hollingsworth will spend the next three months in prison after breaching a bond imposed on him less than four months ago.

Hollingsworth, 49, of Best Road, #1 Lodge Road, Christ Church, pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Delores Sobers when he appeared in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today.

Hollingsworth and Sobers’ 12-year friendship turned sour on August 14 following a physical altercation.

Magistrate Elwood Watts heard that the labourer visited the woman’s home earlier in the day and was asked to leave several times after he began to use indecent language. The situation reportedly became overbearing for Sobers who was entertaining other people at her residence that she attempted to push him off her property.

However, Hollingsworth armed himself with a bottle and hit Sobers in the head, injuring her.

The matter was reported to police and Hollingsworth was arrested.

A check by Station Sergeant Rudolph Burnett found that Magistrate Watts had placed Hollingsworth on a one-year bond to keep the peace back in April, which he had breached by wounding Sobers and was therefore sentenced to a three-month prison term.

For the wounding charge, he was reprimanded and discharged.
