Two free of 2013 charges

Two men walked out of the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today free of separate 2013 charges.

Lloyd Carlos Hughes of Pondside, Nelson Street, St Michael was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Jermaine Welch on January 18, 2013.

Hughes, who was 34 years old at the time of the alleged offence, has continuously denied the allegation and had been on $3,500 bail.

However, when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this morning, the case against him was dismissed for want of prosecution.

It was a similar situation for Earl Peterson Maynard, of Pine Road, St Michael.

Maynard, then 39 years old, was granted $2,500 bail after denying that he stole a chain and pendant worth $250, a beaded chain worth $30 and two bracelets worth $100, belonging to Hazel Scantlebury, on June 6, 2013.
