Tears still flowing for Belle

The tears continue to flow for 35-year-old Shane Jamol Belle, who died in a car accident in the early hours of Saturday morning, just walking distance from his Dash Valley, St George home.

Belle was on his way home from Beer Fest with his friends, 22-year-old Rasheed Phillips and 24-year-old Michael Payne, when the vehicle in which they were travelling hit an embankment and overturned. The car was bring driven by Phillips.

Belle who was sitting in the backseat, died at the scene, while Payne and Phillips were both transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment. Payne suffered a broken right arm and bruises to the head, while Phillips suffered multiple injuries.

A woman who identified herself as Belle’s aunt told Barbados TODAY she had not stopped crying since the family was jolted by news of the former mason’s death.

Meanwhile, his cousin, Mario Belle, said the father of a 13-year-old girl would be dearly missed by family and friends.

Mario said his cousin often volunteered to use his carpentry skills to help his family members around the house.

“He would help any and everybody. He could get anything done with his hands so anything wrong with any of the houses, he used to help,” Mario said.

“He was cool and kind to everybody . . . He was a quiet fellow,” he added.

Belle was the 17th road fatality for this year.
