Man accused of Fairchild Street shooting remanded

The man who allegedly discharged a firearm in the Fairchild Street area last week, which resulted in two people being injured, has been remanded to HMP Dodds until October 12.
Reco Omar Grimes, 30, of 1st Avenue Maxwell Hill, Christ Church, appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant this morning accused of six charges, five of which are indictable.
Grimes, who is being represented by attorney Angela Mitchell-Gittens, is charged with causing serious bodily harm to Canute Ward and Karen Straker on August 11 with intent to maim, disfigure or disable them, or to do some other serious bodily harm to them.
It is also alleged that he used a firearm on that same date; and that without lawful excuse he discharged the weapon in a public place, Fairchild Street, in a manner that placed Ward and Straker in danger of death or serious bodily harm.
The unemployed man is also charged with having cannabis in his possession on August 12 while in the District ‘B’ jurisdiction. Grimes will appear before the Oistins Magistrates’ Court on August 21 to answer that charge.
