Alleged car battery thief off to Dodds

A 33-year-old man, who is accused of stealing two car batteries, has been remanded to Dodds prison after Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant turned down his bail application on Wednesday.

Albert Monterbrem Hinds of Philip Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Black Rock, St Michael allegedly stole the batteries, which were valued at $550, from Kyle Anderson Clarke on July 24.

And despite denying the charge and suggesting that he did not want to lose his job, the prosecutor, Station Sergeant Glenda Carter-Nicholls, told the magistrate that Hinds had a tendency to commit such crimes based on his antecedents. She also pointed to the strength of the evidence against the accused, saying that there was a need to protect the society.

Hinds returns to court on September 6.
