Williams out of 200m

Barbados national champion, Sada Williams, is out of the 200 metres at the IAAF World Championships of Athletics in London, England.

Today, Williams finished fifth in her heat in a time of 23.55 and failed to advance. Trinidad and Tobago’s Kayelle Clarke was sixth in 23.75.

Among those from the Caribbean advancing was Bahamas’ Shaunae Miller-Uibo. She cruised home in her heat in a time of 22.69, the fastest of the heats. Simone Facey of Jamaica was second in 22.98 seconds to qualify also for the 200m semis.

Another qualifier was Jamaican Sashalee Forbes, who was third in heat three

The Bahamas’ Tynia Gaither was second in heat one behind an impressive-looking Dafne Schippers. Schippers trotted to 22.63, while Gaither clocked 22.98.

Jamaica’s Jodean Williams, who could only manage fifth, still qualified for the semi-final with her 23.38.
