Man with no surety gets ease on bail

A St Michael man was given an ease by the court Monday after he failed to produce a surety for his bail.

Appearing before Magistrate Douglas Frederick Monday morning at No 1 District ‘A’ Criminal Court, Fabian Ricardo Connell pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Nakita Arthur on July 15, 2017.

However, after he was granted bail, Connell was unable to produce a surety, despite the best efforts of officers to reach his relatives.

But instead of remanding Connell to prison overnight, Frederick granted his release until Tuesday, when he is expected to produce an adequate surety for his bail.

Bail should be granted on one condition, he has a good jet wash, shave and a hair cut.
