Five accused remanded to Dodds

Three teenagers accused of the murder of Colleen Payne and two alleged accomplices were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds after appearing at the District “A’ Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Seventeen-year-old Baggio McNeil Boxill of 3rd Avenue Spring Garden, Black Rock, St Michael; 18-year-old Kishon Lemar Anderson Thomas of Nicholls Road, Seaview, St James and 19-year-old Orlando Ricardo Martin of 2nd Avenue, Bibby’s Lane, St Michael were not required to plead to the offence.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Darian Reuben Thompson of Oldplow Road, Bagatelle, St Thomas was charged with disposal of clothing and 24-year-old Kyle Donicco Gill of Danesbury, Black Rock, St Michael was charged with disposal of a firearm allegedly used in the murder.

The five accused will return to court on August 22.

Last Monday, 58-year-old Payne of Lodge Hill, St Michael was attacked and shot by two men while conducting a transaction at the Royal Bank of Canada ATM machine at University Drive, Black Rock, St Michael.

She was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance but subsequently succumbed to her injuries.

There is a huge problem with the youth here today. I see photos in the media of these kids and they appear proud of themselves. This is not an isolated case. I’ve seen it for years now. It used to be that you would see all their teenage friends cheering them on as they board the bus to Dodds. However I must commend the police force for their speedy and diligent work in arresting these kids. Unfortunately I fear they will spend but a few years in prison and walk away laughing. Sad!

I hope more young people read this and know that a few dollars dont worth the long life in prison, because you guys going to come out when you old, and turn into women. Every week you see young men and women robbing and stealing, thank god they caught you guys because most likely you would do it again, get a job, and if you cant get a job that fast, you still cant rob or murder anyone

So you all wasted that lady’s life and wanted to just look at the murder as the way you would kill a centipede? No sirie! In a civil world human life is upheld to civil standards. Maybe you should have read the English language more and then some The Bible or do you look at the Bible in your world as the piece of iron that you took Ms Payne’s life. You could not even have stop to think that she could have been your Grand-mother,mother, aunt or God-mother the act that you have committed shows me you would even use it upon your mothers! Why? because the days out of your mother’s whom are not that long ago and the mother’s bond of kinship is non existent among you! Orangutans have more love at hart for their kind!

No point in wishing the worse for them because there is none that can satisfy or be sufficient for the death of an innocent person. THIs poor woman’s family will miss her forever…the reality is that they can be out of prison in 30 or 40 years and still have a life

they shouldve think before they kill the woman, most likely this is not their first crime, many of these young people are so angry, they kill animals and terrorize their neighborhoods. I think these guys would have broken in someone’s home and if the person inside the home, they would be killed, because these guys were in the possession of a gun. The police did a good job at getting these criminals off the street. Not one of them could not tell the other not to do that, what about the guy in st george some of them broke in his house and kill him and his tenant. I feel bad that their lives will be wasted in prison for years, but I also have to feel a little safer coming to barbados and know the police did a good job of getting these thugs off the street. If they have a gun that means they wouldve robbed anyone in their path. I hope other young people that think they could break in people house, and rob them, and dont even have the guts to think how hard people work for what they want, they need to stop it. Search all of these young men and women because too many guns on the street.

i must also say the police always get their men, these guys is like the chickens come home to roast, only in prison. Some of them have behavioral problems at school, no job , no money so they get a gun to rob and kill. The road to success is not easy, so to get money that easy had to be a crime. Too many young black men dont care about their future, they killing off the good hard working people who have family members that will be hurting about them demise. The government need to send out public announcement on tv about people who want to commit crimes, if the police get you, you will spend long years in prison, your sentences will be very harsh, maybe that will deter some young people from committing crimes

My heart aches for these young people. Like Pat Edwards say you are sorry for the death, but you can’t help seeing the young lives wasted and having compassion for them. Transformative justice not punitive. Barbados needs to adopt the European model for jails.

I know that I will get some licks for this but I will ask anyway.

It would be interesting to know where they went to school and I am not implying any thing here necessarily but I am interested to know.

People tend to say that we have elitist schools and cry that down saying that all are equal and get the same students which I totally don’t believe. All schools are not equal. Somebody should carry out a survey to see where our most deviant citizens went to school and convince me then.

And by the way who is Virgil?

Why is this happening? This is so hurtful and hard to bear. What can be done to change the direction of destruction that too many of our young men are taking? They are so young, now are only known as murderers, thugs, criminals. We can march about money and taxes, but when will we march as a country for LIVES TAKEN and LIVES RUINED. Our priorities in this country are wrong. We have a mushrooming epidemic of young criminals including senseless murders and attacks on citizens. Our children are angry and clearly neglected by home, school, church and everything that should be helping with their socialization. How can we change this destructive and fatal behaviour. I do not want to be afraid walking around in the country I love because a child is angry, frustrated and bent on violence. Cursing them is not going to change anything. Will we just curse the next group and on and on and on?………..we need help in this country for our children!

There is a general lack of discipline among our people today and that is why we have these problems. Look at the way that policeman in uniform is ‘twirling’ around that lollipop in his mouth. That is disgusting!! To say the least. He claims to be part of a disciplined force. He should be reprimanded. The youth have no one to instil discipline in them- I see it now I get it now. No hard work no sacrifice. That is what they tell themselves. Same as that policeman. I don’t have to wait until I get back to the station or vehicle to get at my lollipop,I will suck it now. He needs road work and some hot sun.
