Yvonne Sealy; Sorry! but whose life is done? you mean Kenrick Spooner. These two if convicted should not see the light of day until the reach about 65-70 years when they would be too old to commit another murder, but by the time they reach 30 they will be back on the streets. Should a parent give a lawyer $50.000 to represent one of them, let them get a legal aid, if it was for college, yes.

When those in charge, from parents to the politicians, sit back and do nothing, always finding excuses. This is where we went wrong.

I don’t think that this is a fair statement. Many of our “productive youth” continue to make leaps and bounds in our society. A large majority await their CSEC and CAPE results in order to transition to institutions of higher learning come September, some are leading youth forums in church, others are progressing in sports, many more are excelling in the artistic domains. Maybe the media should equally focus on their achievements as well, especially in times like these where juvenile delinquency appears to be somewhat sensationalized. All is not lost people!

Judy Stanford Way too many young people feel like there’s no one to open to apart from their peer group. Adults just don’t have the time like older generations to play with children, tell stories, cook out, roast breadfruit, part fights, discipline cuss burds and so on and so forth. We have lost the village. You are right and we need to find some time to connect with the youngsters.

Judy Stanford The village has not failed them. Parents need to teach and discipline their children. We started a culture here where a lot of parents stop teaching their children to respect authority at all levels. Some parents are their children buddies, smoking, drinking and gambling buddies so what do you expect when all are on the same level. Too many children are in “latch key” mode and parents can’t account for them before, during and after school hours so we will continue to have this problem.

This is not surprising. We have tons of issues in our schools and teachers are constantly blamed when they seek dialogue with the authorities about the downward moral trend in our schools.

The truth is that many parents are struggling and need help, Some just aren’t intrinsically ready for parent hood. Parent support groups and intervention from a young age is paramount. To make matters worse; home, school and church is now divided.
However, little is done to assist the situation until these young men and woman become problems within our society. Then, we look for answers, but ” monsters” aren’t born big.

I hope the nation understands that Dodds is not the solution. We need to reach people before they offend. Sending offenders to Dodds does not and cannot replace a life, not even hanging. That offender should become the property of the victim’s family for life. Let justice return to the one who was treated unjustly

What has become of the group that is always making noise when we are going to hang someone? Cant remember their name but when things like this happen they don’t say a word in sympathy for the decease family, yet they are always the first to show opposition to taking the life of a guilty murderer. Yes the name is Amnesty International. What has become of them? Hypocrites.

Some of our young people believe that this kind of behaviour is what makes them an adult. The first thing they do is challenge their parents, skip their education and use force to demonstrate their ignorance. They ultimately find themselves where these two are headed.
