Grant on bail for assaulting police officers

A St James man charged with assaulting two police officers was granted $4,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Criminal Court Wednesday morning.

Makenon Amani Adesinda Grant, of King’s Village, Holders Hill, pleaded not guilty to four charges.

The 29-year-old was accused of unlawfully assaulting Police Constables Ronald Williams and Makeba Brewster Tuesday, unlawfully resisting Constable Williams in the execution of his duty, and failing to obey the lawful order of Constable Williams to “move and keep on moving” on the same date.

As part of his bail condition, Grant is to report to the Central Police Station once a week. He returns to court on October 19.

A seven day remand to prison will help these tugs understand that they can’t brutalise the police and get away with it.

Magistrates you need to start taking your job seriously. Very soon these tugs will fully take over the society and good citizens would not be able to leave their homes. The barrier between you and anarky is the poor Police. Please support them
