Do your job, Mottley tells Kellman

Leader of the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) Mia Mottley has called on the Minister responsible for Housing Denis Kellman to spend more time doing his job and less time on call-in programmes.

“If he was spending less time on the call-in programmes and in Moon Town he would know that somebody needs to be held for this massive wastage of money and those persons should perhaps be spending time at Dodds rather than walking around Barbados freely today,” Mottley said.

The BLP Leader was making reference to the unoccupied lots at the Parish Land Development in St Philip.

Speaking to a group of journalists in the area on Saturday during a BLP ‘rubbing shoulders’ event, Mottley highlighted how the housing project which was launched in 2010 was left to rot and decay seven years later.

“You cannot have houses shut up for five years, six years and expect that people can find these houses functional,” she said.

“This Parish Land Development was about contracts, it was not about the supplying of housing. If it was about supplying of housing it would be full of little children, cars and all kinds of people but this was designed to supply contracts before the last election and empty it stands today,” Mottley added.

      @Saga Boy, you should be given some kind of medal for your patriotism and your blind support of this dysfunctional political party, the “DLP.” Another supporter keeps saying that if or when the BLP takes the reigns people think that things will get better, did the DLP told the people that it would be disastrous to re-elect the BLP and elect them that they would no lay-offs, no privatizing and look what has happened, after 9 years they`re faulting the BLP and the world for their incompetency.

    Two points here. The former minister who built these house get his “cut” already so it mattered little to him if they were sold. Secondly, it was always the intention of this DLP admin to leverage these houses for votes. Anything that can be done will be attemted in an effort to gain an advantage in this election. Desperate DEMS.

    I honestly don’t know why the people of St. Lucy continue to vote for Mr. Kellman. Up to now they can’t see that he’s only interested in Social Media and the call in programmes. Heads should roll for this wastage of money. And we wonder why Barbados finds its self in such a precarious position today. It’s these illiterates that make poor decision and fatten their own bank accounts while the people of the country continue to murmur but won’t take action. Up de Ting .

    So are you saying Mr Benn that we should go back to local- government days when the lower ministers hated to drive their Hillman Minx and Vauxhall Victors through rough road and would send down to D T W (Department of Tansportation and Works) for quarter inch, marl and asphalt?

    @hcalndre. Less you forget.
    Mia Mottley, the opposition leader of the Barbados Labour Party, made an appeal with plenty of justifications, why the small 166 square mile 12 Parish island of Barbados should increase its current number of Parliamentarians. This appeal was made at a time when the island is suffering from serious economic problems that have resulted in services being depressed and neglected. It is due, mostly, to the poor management skills of the incumbent deceitful DLP government, and to a large extent, by the policies and poor oversight of government-spending by both political parties.

    One would think that with the momentum in favour of the BLP, this fork tongue speaking silly woman would continue to ride on the wave of DLP nonsense and failures that is causing many to look upon the the opposition leader’s BLP party with renewed interest and wide eyes. But, as per usual, this indifferent, but very intelligent woman (I think) has a tendency to lean towards her alternative self that has landed many of the things she think are good into a lot of harsh criticisms. To present an articulate case for more parliamentarians at a time when bajans are very upset with their parliamentary leaders, especially the highminded Prime Minister shows that the Mottley level of confidence is causing her to not think things through, thoroughly. As a result, Mottley’s proposal was given a deserving tongue lashing, as the assumptions drawn is that she must make a way for her people thus ensuring that they can return to feeding at the Treasury trough after 8 lost years.
