UPDATE-Tropical wave weakens

Barbadians can still expect to experience bouts of bad weather later on this week.

However, forecasters at the Barbados Meteorological Services today reported that an approaching tropical wave had weakened somewhat, due mainly to the presence of a layer of Saharan dust and the entrainment of dry air into the system.

At 2 p.m. today, the axis of this wave was located near 39 to 40 degrees west, with the wave still forecast to bring pockets of moderate to heavy showers, isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across Barbados late Thursday into early Friday.

Met officials continue to monitor the progress of the system, which is currently located over the central Atlantic.
