Eight to vie for Sweet Soca title

The 2017 Sweet Soca Finals will be a very keenly contested one.

The finalists were announced early this morning after more than four hours of gruelling competition.

Among those heading to Bushy Park on July 30 for the popular Soca Royale competition, are strong vocalists, former monarchs and one newcomer.

Songbirds Nikita, Damien Marvay and Marzville will be hoping to grab the title in a few weeks. This will be Nikita and Damien Marvay’s second time at Bushy Park, while Marzville will be heading to the east for the first time as a competitor. Along with them are veteran calypsonians Lil Rick and Red Plastic Bag, who is also a former Sweet Soca Monarch.

Shaquille is the newcomer to competition this year.

The full list of finalists in alphabetical order are Damien Marvay, Lil Rick, Marzville, Nikita, Red Plastic Bag, Sanctuary, Shaquille and TC. The reserve is Fadda Fox. They will be hoping to dethrone reigning monarch De General Edwin Yearwood.

I further wish to request that Barbados remove me from their contact list and desist from sending me news updates which are poorly written and useless anyway. I was advised that I can litigate against BARBADOS TODAY citing Internet harassment using electronic means. Thanks.
