Two Sagicor General executives sent on leave

Two top officials of insurance giant Sagicor General are said to be currently on leave amid an ongoing investigation.

Details about the nature of the investigation are sketchy at this time. However, Barbados TODAY understands that President and Chief Executive Officer David Alleyne and the company’s chief financial officer were recently sent on leave pending the outcome of the probe into matters that are yet to be made public.

When contacted today neither Alleyne nor Chief Operations Officer and General Manager of Sagicor Barbados Ed Clarke would comment on the development, which comes amid continuing restructuring of the Sagicor Group.

In May of this year Barbados TODAY reported that the post of vice president for corporate communications and marketing at Sagicor Financial Corporation had been made redundant.

Top officials had given assurances at the time that no major layoffs were planned by the insurance company in the short-term.
