Deceased’s neighbours puzzled

Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of Mark Green, the father of 19-year-old Nathan Greene, whose body was found by police last Saturday afternoon in a track at Hangman Hill, St Thomas.

Neighbours said the father appeared to have left the Emerald Park West, St Philip home on Sunday, less than 24 hours after his son’s body was discovered, and he has not been seen since.

When Barbados TODAY visited the area this afternoon, the house was shut tight, with no signs of activity in or around it.

The community, virtually a new one, was also quiet, as few residents were at home at the time.

Hardly anyone who spoke to Barbados TODAY knew Nathan well, with some indicating they were new to the neighborhood, while others said they had only seen him from time to time.

However, one neighbour who admitted not knowing the former St Michael and Ellerslie School student, said residents had not seen him in a very long time.

“He moved out over a year ago and we aren’t too sure where he went. After he finished school he started to get mixed up with the wrong crowd. He started to get a bit troublesome and couldn’t get along with his father,” said the neighbour who requested anonymity.

The cause of the teenager’s death has not been revealed, and police are asking anyone with information that can assist their investigations to call the District ‘D’ Police Station at 419 1729, or 410 1726, police emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or the nearest police station.

Seems a bit sensational to say the dead teen dad flees home….come on BT! Just because the father may not be there most likely to avoid the prying press, why use that headline? Are you implying that something more sinister is at play here??
You are not competing on the street corners for sales, do at least try to be more responsible

Come on now what ever happened to responsible journalism !!!! Saying he has fled the area makes it seem like the father is a suspect or somehow responsible for his son’s death !! You guys have to do better than this beginning to lack integrity !!

This is a father who had has dedicated his life to take care and raise his children well… he has lost a son and just like anyone one doesn’t need ppl around trying to find out and asking insentitive questions…..
Anyone going through something like this needs privacy and space.
This article is tasteless and very insensitive… the choice of words are very poor.

Even without the headline, his fleeing still looks fishy.

Not everyone who is faced with such situations can deal with the prying press. Please, the father will need some privacy at this time. Contrary to the many thoughts expressed here he is a decent individual looking out for other people’s children through his work in IT and as a Cub Leader. Please give him some space to deal with this situation.

This is a very heartbreaking issue and I think the press can be more sensitive. In your effort to get readers you have neglected the human element. Take note you are dealing with a person and not a robot! You journalist need to stop this nonsense and get your stories right!!!!!

This is not journalism at its worst. I was in Nathan’s class at Ellerslie and he told us his dad kick him out and he went to live with his grandmother. So if his dad left the house after hearing about this it’s obvious he’s dad hiding something. If he truly love his son he won’t have kick him out. He would of show him who’s man and be the father figure to teach Nathan to be one someday. That’s all I have to say. R.I.P Green. Will miss you.

Maybe the father is simply seeking to avenge his sons death…

Mark Green needs peace and quiet to deal with the death of a son not to be hounded by the press. Let the man grieve in peace people.

He must have been kicked out like you said for some reason. Leave the man alone.

All who think that BT is wrong on this, I don`t agree. First every one is a suspect until that police can have an interview with persons of interest; father, friend or whoever, the father should be the first to talk to the police, it is his son. Some of the comments make no sense such as the father wants some peace to deal with the death of his son, deal with the police first and then find a place to be quiet that only the police could contact him.

How you know he didn’t talk to the police?, or fear what may happen if he do?
