Fire delays Padmore Village rally stage

Fire has broken out in a cane ground at Padmore Village, St Philip.

Eyewitnesses say a fire on which breadfruit was being roasted got out of control.

The incident has delayed the Padmore Village stage of this weekend’s Rally Barbados motor racing event.

The Roving Response Team for the event was on hand and responded to the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

    Because you guys want a clear view of the corner you decided to light that fire so close to people houses . you should be in the cell at district c police station .

    Dear Wayne, I am afraid you couldn’t be more wrong, I was in that immediate vaccinity and your assumptions are way off base. Yes the fire started as a result of some who were roasting breadfruit, but it was on the opposite and windward side of the stage from either direction, therefore obstruction was never an issue.

    Yes it was careless and reckless to light an open fire with that kind of gust in a harvested cane field, by to suggest that there was some kind of dubiousness behind the fire is completely wrong and errant by you. There was no malice behind their actions.
