St Michael man held with gun during traffic stop

Police have arrested and charged 46-year-old David Wayne Harper of Bibby’s Lane, St Michael with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of seven rounds of ammunition.

On Friday, May 26, the police were conducting routine vehicular checks in the area of Jack in the Box, Gully Road, St Thomas when a vehicle in which Harper was a passenger was stopped. A subsequent search of the occupants and their belongings revealed the firearm and ammunition concealed in a haversack belonging to Harper.

He appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was remanded to prison to reappear in court on July 4.
