Young footballers continue to excite

Blenheim playing field, St Michael, was the scene of a number of exciting match-ups as action in the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament continued Friday.

Thierry Chazuel turned on the style for St Giles with a brace that saw his school defeat St Cyprian’s 2-1. Chazuel was not only impressive going forward but was also very efficient defending against St Cyprian’s. Ayo Kellman got St Cyprian’s goal.

Andrew Doughty also got two goals as Luther Thorne defeated Belmont Primary 2-0.

Whether there were prayers offered or not, People’s Cathedral just didn’t have enough oomph to stave off the Wilkie Cumberbatch team which won 2-1. For Wilkie Cumberbatch, Josiah Smith and Ruje Clarke-Hunte scored while Kristian Fowler netted for People’s Cathedral.

Kobe Burgess and Denrique Cox-Chance scored for St Paul’s while they also benefited from an own-goal as they defeated George Lamming 3-1. Jayden Roberts scored for George Lamming.

Geovani Hinds scored the loan goal as Charles F Broome defeated St Ambrose 1-0.

In Zone 7 action at Briar Hall, Christ Church, Regan Gibbons’ goal for Wills gave them a 1-0 win over St Lawrence. Azari Belle scored as Milton Lynch beat St Winifred’s 1-0. There were goals from Jaden Johnson, Joshua Vatere, Matthew Alleyne and Seth Jacobs as St Angela’s defeated Vauxhall 4-0. St Gabriel’s won 5-0 over St Bartholomew with two goals coming from Kyle Corbin while Zack Anthony, Calem Maloney and Thomas Dent scored one apiece.

At Greens, St George, in Zone 5, St Judes beat Cuthbert Moore 2-1 with Shanari Harewood netting a brace and Tyreke Gittens scoring for Cuthbert Moore.

Bay Primary got two goals from Michael Browne and  Shakem Kellman and one from Nfigo Reid as they thrashed Hill Top Preparatory 5-1 with Joshua Waithe netting the consolation strike.

At Ellerton, Ellerton defeated St John 2-0 with goals coming from Akeel Jacobs and Tyreece Cumberbatch. Providence put four unanswered goals past Workman’s Primary with a hattrick from Spencer Haslette and the fourth goal from Aron Blackett.

In a Zone 8 match played at King George V Memorial Park, Bayley’s and St Philip Primary drew 1-1 with Romario Stoute scoring for Bayley’s and St Philip benefiting from Bayley’s own goal.

In Zone 1 action in Speightstown, St Peter, St Lucy defeated Half Moon Fort 4-0; Boscobel and Gordon Greenidge drew 2-2; Roland Edwards beat Selah 1-0; and All Saints got over Ignatius Byer 3-1.
