Brothers get bail after month-long prison stay
Two teenagers who had been on remand at HMP Dodds on a robbery charge since last month were today granted their freedom.
Robert Eliser Reid, 17, and his older brother Taquan Emmanuel Reid, 19, both of Wilkinson Road, Richmond Gap, St Michael, are charged with robbing Heather Phillips of a handbag worth $75, a cellular phone worth $80, a purse worth $45, an umbrella worth $15, an inhaler worth $15 and $130 in cash.
They had denied committing the offence, which is alleged to have occurred on January 27.
When the two went before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today, prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill did not renew her objections to them being granted bail.
As such, the older of the brothers was released on $1,500 bail with one surety and placed on a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew while his younger sibling was released on $2,000 bail and placed on the same curfew hours.
The teenagers return to court on April 21.
