East folds to West in Christ Church derby

Christ Church West (CCW) recorded their first win of the National Sports Council and Youth Development Programme Community Under-17 Football Tournament.

Tuesday afternoon at Briar Hall Ground, CCW defeated Christ Church East (CCE) 3-0 with a goal coming as early as ten minutes into the game compliments Tremaine Straker.

Straker capitalized on a perfect goal scoring opportunity when CCE custodian Jediah Blades failed to hang onto a ball in his six-yard box.

Only ten minutes later, CCW extended their lead 2-0 when a long ball from Niall Reid found the boot of Rashad Smith inside the 18-yard box and he buried his attempt past the diving CCE’s goalkeeper Blades, who was clearly not happy with his defenders, and rightfully so.

In the second half CCE pressured the ball but just could not seem to score, unlike CCW who put away three of their seven chances in the encounter.

Four minutes before the final whistle Niall Reid added goal number three for CCW in the 56th closing off a well deserved victory.
