The spirit of Christmas was alive and well at the Villages of Coverley last night at the annual Christmas in the Villages party for residents and the general public.

The event, in its fourth year, comprised of a market place and a grand concert in the town square.

Parents got a chance to do some Christmas shopping compliments Cave Shepherd and other local entrepreneurs who sold unique soaps, lotions, clothing, decorations and other items.

To the delight of the many children who attended, Santa Claus and his smartly dressed elves came out to distribute treats in the square which featured a range of beautifully decorated Christmas trees.

Patrons were entertained in music, dance and song. The performers of Praise Academy of Dance, resembled angels in their white dresses under the stage’s blue light, dancing to Mary Did you Know.

Meanwhile, local vocal powerhouse, Cha’an gave a sultry and seductive rendition of Santa Baby and I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. Her performance thoroughly enthralled the little ones who were at the front of the stage.

The crowd got to their feet with the lively performances by Joaquin, Nikitia, Kirk Brown and the Energy Band. Singing popular Christmas carols like Merry Christmas, Someday at Christmas and Santa is Coming to Town, the group engaged the kids who rushed to the stage to sing along.

Closing the concert, Red Plastic Bag had the very young and young at heart grooving to his hits. Never too early or late for calypso, RPB finished off the evening’s celebrations with songs such as Show you sweetness, Ragga Ragga and Volcano.

Now the kids know where the elf houses are located. It is popularly known as Matchboxes at Coverly. So did Santa Claus come to the Ghetto?

Francis, I could not agree with you more. You know what? You cannot take the scrooge out of some people. They just seemed to be unhappy period. You cannot share what you don’t have. Hence, if you don’t have joy in you, you cannot share it and you will not know how to be happy for anyone or about anything.

Some people need to do some serious self-examination and soul-searching and ask themselves why so much negativity dwells within them.

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!!!

Nobody is being a scrooge here miss yard fowl. I never said the children should not be treated to Christmas goodies. You got your hamper shut up and be happy. My criticism was aimed at Coverly. Houses cost too much for their sizes and it is nothing more than a ghetto waiting to happen because nobody ain’t buying none o’ DEM matchboxes. The whole neighbourhood hears when someone phart. Francis, I will behave myself. Got to get a ham cutter.
