BCC addresses rodent problem

Students of the Barbados Community College’s Fine Arts Division have had their demands met, after complaining of spending an entire semester in unhygienic conditions.

The students had protested outside the principal’s office at the start of the month demanding that something be done to eradicate rodents infesting their section of the campus.

In a press release today, the Students’ Guild revealed that several measures had since been taken, including the introduction of garbage receptacles with lids, and debushing of the area which apparently provided cover for the rodents that entered the Fine Arts Building. Several air conditioning units were also either repaired or replaced.

The Guild also reported that the Ministry of Health had inspected the premises and its findings were pending.

“The Students’ Guild will continue its efforts to ensure that this matter is fully resolved and to ensure that all students of the Barbados Community College are in a safe and clean environment to achieve maximum productivity and successful studies in their respective divisions,” the release added.

This problem should be resolved ASAP due to the close proximity of Illaro Court and surrounding dwelling places. It’s a health and welfare problem!
