Bhana surrenders after hitting man with car

A St Michael man who turned himself in after hitting another man with his car, appeared before a Bridgetown Magistrate today.

Usman Salam Bhana, 25, from Chapman Street admitted that on December 8, having charge of a motorcar, by willful misconduct caused bodily harm to Jamal Skeete.

In presenting the case, prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill said it was while Bhana was at his residence around 3:15 a.m. on the mentioned date that he heard his car alarm going off.

When he got up and checked, he saw Skeete tampering with his vehicle.

Bhana then went outside and the complainant walked off. Bhana followed him to White Park Road where the two were involved in a confrontation. Skeete reportedly rushed at Bhana with a sword and he retaliated by driving his car at Skeete, striking him on the legs. Skeete received an abrasion to his left foot and a wound to the right.

Bhana then left and reported the matter to the police.

After hearing the facts, Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant adjourned the case until December 16, when Skeete is expected to appear in court.

In the meantime, Bhana was released on $2,000 bail which he secured with one surety.

Now to all the trolls all I’m dealing with is how the headline reads to the content. This is not an opinion on the content itself just the correlation of the headline to the article

Self defense Is Important Cause When Ya Call The Police Hotline Them Sluggish As Ever..

a man can surely defend him self, but he cannot use excessive force in doing so. From reading this article “YUSUF” is saying that “SKEETE” is well known to the owner of the car. if that is so he should have called the police. he could have lost his life confronting “SKEETE” who they say was armed. what he did last he should have done first, call the police. Bhana will be set free any way.

Bhana seems to have a foolish Lawyer no way should that happen. Not a on way charge. Further more I was breaking both legs “in self defence” and getting some sleep.

We are all gonna say that Usman is right…..we don’t like when a habitual thief like skeete gets away with his crimes but the law is the law….. now if Usman did brek he up on the scene after finding him breaking into his car then he has all rights to defend himself especially when the “perp” has a sword…..but from the time that he follows him this is where he takes the law out of his favor and it is called premeditated……i am no lawyer by knowing ur rights goes a long way…..i hope that the law sees favor on Usman bc he is a nice young man….

$2000 bail! This seems to me to be attempted murder. Plus if he was on the run he should automatically be remanded in prison.
Don’t tell me: all his family and friends turned up in court to give support.
