Painter fined for weed

A painter from St Michael has six months to pay the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court $5 000 after he pleaded guilty to several drug charges recently.

Terry Orlando Small, 40, of #47 Husbands New Development, was charged with the March 3 offence of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and cultivation of 690 grammes of cannabis.

The illicit drugs had an estimated street value of $3,400.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at Small’s residence on the mentioned date. While searching the enclosed yard, some plants were found in pots. Asked to give an account of them, Small reportedly replied that “the seeds and the marijuana are all mines, officer.”

Following the facts delivered by prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill, Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant imposed the fine on Small for the trafficking charge. He will
face a 12-month prison term if he fails to pay.

He was reprimanded and discharged on all other charges

Small returns to court on June 16, 2017 to show his receipt.
