Paris admits to badly beating her schoolmate

courtA 16-year-old girl appeared before a Bridgetown magistrate today on an assault charge.

Paris Raina Marie Clarke of #41 Oxnards Crescent, St James pleaded guilty to assaulting Asha Hinkson on November 4, occasioning her actual bodily harm.

The facts read by police prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill revealed that Clarke and Hinkson, who attend the same secondary school, were friends but were no longer of speaking terms.

On the mentioned date, the complainant was preparing to catch the school bus when Clarke approached with some friends. The group reportedly began to cuff, kick and slap Hinkson about her face and body causing her to fall. At this point, Clarke reportedly continued to beat and kick Hinkson, hitting in the left eye. A security guard and other persons intervened pulling Clarke off the complainant.

The matter was reported to the police and Clarke turned herself in on December 4.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant adjourned the case until December 9, when the complainant is scheduled to appear in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates Court.

No matter how we try to educate our children and do all we possibly can to help them to have a better life than most of us adults ever had ,there are those who become bullies, and often like to be looked upon by their school buddies as real tough.
They like to be talked about as the ones that no one mess with. This sort of empowerment by friends often lead to the inevitable, a police record for life, or worst some jail time.
It should be enforced , by parents and teachers/peers alike to children that what they do at the spur of the moment without thought always comes back to haunt them later .And in the case of this School bully /thug and friends a conviction for being violent might just decide what she’ll have to face later in life ,like applying for work etc.
Remember that the friends that encouraged and cheered you on while you kicked and stomp on that young lady aren’t going to be there for you ,you’ ll be on your own and have to fight your own battle , one that you probably won’t be able to win. Meanwhile many of your buddies would have moved on to a productive life/career.

    This situation is two fold.
    1. This display is how you know we are a destroyed people from the root up. When you lack education this is the end result (but what type of education)?????? The one about self and who you are as a people. If our ancestors had this zeal and might in the days of slavery we will not be in this predicament today. The only thing which separates us as a people is massa name, name of schools, religion, job, island, etc but we are the same nation of people.

    2. This also has to do with parenting. From an early age these are the children who will hit back their parents/mother and she laugh and say “lef she, she small”. I bet these same kids verbally abuse their parents too and they can’t say a word to them. I bet these are kids who do not get a hug and close conversations with parents to discuss daily issues. I bet these are parents who do not have discussions with teachers of their children progress in school.

Probable put them into the cane ground to head cane and the potato and peas ground for a couple of days a week to experience the hardship and then something might sink in.

“Juvenile delinquency is a direct result ,of Adult delinquency” Erskine lloyd Sandiford.Minister of Education,. Children live what they learn,,they are like sponges, sucking up whatever they are placed in,,Adults ,,be careful as to what you do or say around them,,,,
