Disruptive passenger back with family


The 66-year-old male passenger who caused a scare onboard Air Canada flight 1966 to Barbados on June 15 is now back in the care of relatives.

Barbados TODAY understands that Barbadian-born Rodney Powlett, who was under medical observation at the Psychiatric Hospital since the incident occurred, was released in the custody of police late last week, and subsequently returned to his family.

Powlett was not charged in connection with the incident.

During the five-hour flight from Toronto, Powlett who was returning to the island to attend the funeral of a relative, started to display some strange behavior, including idle threats.

He was restrained and handed over to police on arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

    Mental illness is a very serious thing ,and there are many mentally ill indivisuals in our mist that many of us are not aware of. On the other hand, quite a few are committing crimes and by being declared mentally ill get away with them .
    Stress is very often the cause why some folk goes mental.
    “Love more ,stress less”, you’ll live longer.
