Man charged with severing neighbour’s hand

The man accused of chopping off the left hand of 51-year-old Jamaican Delroy Scarlett last Monday has been remanded to HMP Dodds until August 10.

Elton Watson, 39, of Lewis Gap, Green Hill, St Michael appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Watson was not required to plead to the indictable charge of serious bodily harm on Scarlett of Storey Gap, Codrington, St Michael. The incident occurred following a dispute between the two men.

Scarlett remains warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
