Assault case dismissed

courtA 52-year-old welder walked out of the District “A” Magistrates’ Court a free man today.

Maurice Hugh Lavine of Bottom Flat, Apt 1, Haggatt Hall, St Michael was accused of assaulting and using the threatening words, “I going to kill you,” towards Atteriea Yearwood on June 7.

However, when the matter came up for hearing before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the No 1 Court, the virtual complained said she was no longer proceeding with the case.

Frederick dismissed the case, which was previously heard by Magistrate Graveney Bannister.

    This is happenning to much in Barbados, The law should be amended to impose a STIFF fine on anyone who Changes their Mind about Completing a case after it has been filed and up for Hearing in Court. this is a wasye of Police/Court Resources, and someone should Pay.
