Festival brawl lands woman in court

COURT TODAY BLOCKWhat was supposed to be an enjoyable outing at the Oistins Fish Festival for Pauline Pearline Browne, ended with her appearing before Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Court today.

It also resulted in the 49-year-old of #35 Denton Road, Grazettes Road, St Michael being remanded to HMP Dodds for one day after she pleaded guilty to assaulting Shameka Small at the annual festival on March 28.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Azel Skeete in giving the facts revealed that both women attended the Festival on the said date.

He said while standing in front of the old Digicel building, the two women got into a heated argument and Browne touched the complainant on the forehead.

The matter was reported to the police and she was eventually charged for the offence.

Browne will return to court tomorrow when Small is also expected to be present.

Any unwanted touching by a person regardless of how slight is an assault.
