Homeless man pleads guilty to trespassing

COURT TODAY BLOCKThe Psychiatric Hospital will be home to Kirt Oneal Washington for the next three weeks after he pleaded guilty to trespassing on the property of a Good Samaritan.

The 20-year-old of Lewis Gap Green Hill, St Michael was remanded to the mental institution by Magistrate Douglas Frederick after pleading guilty to trespassing on the premises of Peter Blackman and refusing to leave when asked to do so.

When Washington appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court today, Frederick remanded him until April 29.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Martin Rock told the court that after seeing Washington living on the streets, Blackman allowed him to sleep in his garage.

However, after catching him smoking marijuana in the garage, Blackman told him to “leave and don’t come back”.

Despite these orders, Washington still returned on two other occasions.

Police were subsequently called and he was arrested and charged.

Maybe.. just maybe it’s my warped way of thinking?… This young gentleman needed care, a shower, a meal, clean clothing.. Not just to be allowed a garage to sleep in. He’s a human being.. Just maybe if he was treated like a human being and not some feral animal, he may have behaved like one.

Is the mental hospital a place for homelss people now? This young man needs a bath, haircut,a mind to succeed and a job,not the mental hospital.

It was very kind of Mr Blackman to allow Washington to sleep in his garage after seeing him sleeping on the street, but he forgot to mention rules and boundaries.
No form of drugs on your person unless prescribed by a Doctor to be brought any where near his premises.
Some young people and some elders ears compressed with wax, lack respect and feel the world owe them something by disrespecting other’s kindness. Washington is in safe hands, hair cut, bath or shower, ears syringed, clean clothing, meals and hopefully he will be divorced from weed and do something useful with his life. Parents go and visit your son.
